Women’s Exclusive Air Jordan I Let(Her)Man Taps Into the HBCU Experience and Homecoming Season

The Jordan brand has released many notable Air Jordan 1 Mids this year and its latest comes as a women’s exclusive that nods to historically Black colleges and universities, or HBCUs, and homecoming season.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid “Let(Her)Man”, also known as “Homecoming”, draws inspirations from HBCUs, their pride and culture, and their epic homecomings which were halted due to the ongoing pandemic. The sneaker appears with varsity-like colors including red, blue, white, and black with a gold-accented swoosh and features various fabrics throughout from wale corduroy to leather. Ultimately, it takes on the aesthetics of a letterman jacket with the mixed textures and color options, truly giving you that homecoming feeling.

To commemorate the release of the Air Jordan 1 Mid, the Jordan brand tapped junior HBCU students Adrian Allen of Hampton University and Darrin Francois of Tuskegee University for a story about their HBCU experience, voting, maneuvering through school during a global pandemic, and more. Read the story here.

APB also launched their own campaign for the Air Jordan 1 Mid Let(Her)Man featuring Black female figures Arial Robinson, Taylor Calamese, Alicia Tetteh and Tay Blakeney. The campaign not only highlights HBCUs but the power that lies within the female communities at these particular colleges and universities. Each woman was presented with the opportunity to share their story and showcase their style with the upcoming sneaker.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid Let(Her)Man is set release for $130 on November 18th on SNKRS, Jordan.com, DTLR, The Athlete’s Foot, Social Status, and APB.
