This has been quite the year for women and sneaker collaborations, especially with the leading sports footwear and apparel retailer, Nike. They have teamed up with Nordstrom’s Vice President of Creative Projects, Olivia Kim, to create the colorful “No Cover” collection.

Olivia Kim joined Nordstrom’s team in 2013 after working with Opening Ceremony in a similar role. With her fresh outlook in the creative realm, she channeled that vibe in Nordstrom’s atmosphere and brought in new designers like Marine Serre to add to the company’s growing roster of designer brands.

Kim’s “No Cover” collection with Nike is a modern-day take on the her life and the creative culture she witnessed growing up in the melting pot of New York. She combines her personal style along with the lively nature of New York in the nineties, imitating the cities culture through the use of vibrant colors and patterns. Inspiration was drawn for the every aspect of the city including the people, atmosphere, and even the club scene which is illustrated in the red, yellow, and green hues of the dancehall clubs shown in the Air Max 98s. The collection also features an appearance by Betty Boop who was an immensely comic character who played in important role in 80s and 90s pop culture.
The collection includes 16 apparel and accessory pieces along with 5 pairs of sneakers. The sneakers include the Air Force 1 ($120), Air Jordan IV ($190), Air Mowabb ($190), Air Footscape ($150), and Air Max 98 ($190). The Betty Boop Air Force 1 will not be released in retail locations, but they are available at select Nordstrom boutiques.
While the collection goes live today for Nordstrom, there will be a drop at Nike.com and on SNKRS on November 8th. So, mark your calendar and get your coins together!
