Get Into It Phresh Kicks

Melody Ehsani Ices Out Her First Pair Air Jordan 1s for Nike’s “Fearless Ones” Pack

Nike’s 2019 plans called for a more female-focused approach when it came to inclusivity and recognizing the growing market for women in sportswear. They continue to advocate for this approach with collaborations with influential women like Serena Williams, Cynthia Lu, Aleali May, and now, Melody Ehsani. Melody Ehsani is releasing a pair of Air Jordan 1s for Nike’s “Fearless Ones” pack, making this her first sneaker collaboration with Nike.

This is not her first ballgame when it comes to sneakers as her first run-in with sneakers was with Reebok. Her last collaboration with the company was in 2017. More importantly, Melody is the only female designer featured in the “Fearless Ones” Pack for 2019. The other “Fearless Ones” collaborators include Ghetto Gastro, Blue the Great, FACETASM, Maison Château Rogue, and Edison Chen. To make her mark and stand out against her male counterparts, Melody iced out her pair of Jordans and used lots of color.

Melody Ehsani’s Air Jordan 1s incorporate notions of colorblocking, her passion for creating accessories, and her continued push for female empowerment. The midsole features a handwritten quote by Julie Burns Walker which states, “if you knew what you had was rare, you would never waste it.” For those who don’t know who Julie Burns Walker is, she is a gifted healer and the first non African and first woman to graduate and become a member of the Traditional Healers Organization of Sub Saharan Nations. Melody also makes use of her love for jewelry with the use of the gold watch on the sneaker.

Melody Ehsani’s Air Jordans are set to release on November 8th at the Los Angeles Melody Ehsani shop and online at melodyehsani.com with a public launch on November 15th at select retailers, Nike.com, and SNKRS for the price of $130, just in time for the holidays.
