Award-winning choreographer and dancer Parris Goebel has inked a deal with sports giant Nike. Announcing the partnership, Parris led the brand’s latest campaign titled “Own the Floor”.
As a renowned choreographer, Parris Goebel and her captivating, free-spirited moves have caught the attention and gained fandom from big names like Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Kanye West. In fact, she just recently choreographed the Savage X Fenty Volume 3 show that aired back in September as she’s been handling the sexy dance numbers since the lingerie brand’s first show. With such powerful movements linked to self-expression, it is no wonder the creative has received Emmy nominations and honors including Street Dance New Zealand Choreographer of the Year and Dancer of the Year plus World of Dance’s Female Choreographer of the Year.
Parris’ passion for dancing is something she’s embodied since she was a young girl, but she found herself struggling to connect with the dance world when it came to representation as a curvy Polynesian girl. Instead of waiting for change to come, she decided to be the change, telling herself: “I’m going to be the face of dance.” Now, she truly is.
Recognizing her impactful talent and dedication to dance, Nike welcomed the dancer to its growing roster of athletes who are redefining the concept of sports which includes rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Parris now serves as the face of Nike Dance, announcing her partnership with Nike through the “Own the Floor” campaign.”
On the new partnership and campaign, Parris Goebel expresses: “‘I am extremely honored to announce my partnership with @nike @nikewomen to launch this new chapter of sport . This is truly a dream come true for me and to go from dancing in Nike’s my whole life to now being the face of Nike X Dance ‘OWN THE FLOOR’ is extremely emotional and surreal. ‘OWN THE FLOOR’ to me means owning your story, your style, your uniqueness, your dreams and fearlessly leaving it all on the floor. I’m proud to be representing Polynesians, women, dancers and dreamers all around the world. Thank you to my Nike family for this amazing platform to celebrate dancers as athletes. We are just getting started.”
