Tierra Whack x Vans Collaboration Is on the Way: A Look Inside the 80s-Inspired Apparel and Footwear Collection

Vans tapped rapper Tierra Whack for a collaborative collection of apparel and footwear, merging the brand’s heritage designs with the music artist’s unconventionally vibrant personal style.

Tierra Whack grabbed the attention of the music industry starting in 2018 as she possessed a unique style of various flows and rhymes over playful beats. Accompanying her individualistic style of music, Whack also became one to watch with fashion as she regularly donned free-spirited and somewhat avant-garde looks of mixed print garments, colored eyebrows, bright hairstyles, and other experimental fashion elements.

Posing as her first-ever collaboration with Vans, the Whack World musician brings this energetic collection to life with the help of her longtime stylist Shirley Kurata. Altogether, the skateboard brand and visionaries fuse 80s-style elements with Whack’s unapologetically creative eye to birth a vivid collection of apparel and footwear that celebrates the beauty of being yourself.

The upcoming collection receives the full Whack treatment as pieces are dressed in the iconic Vans checkerboard print matched with a rainbow-hued color palette and bold textures like fur and patent leather. Further adding to the rapper’s aesthetic, a multicolored “Whack” graces the side of the Old Skool, which is being actually re-released after a successful promotional run for the “Hungry Hippo” artist in 2019, as the “Weird Hype and Creative Kids” verbiage appears on both the collaborative Style 36 and Old Skool models.

Encompassing the collection’s standout pieces, the Old Skool, Style 36, Half Cab, and Standard Snow MTE reign supreme as the feet heat. On the other hand, a “It’s Okay to Cry” heavy cotton ringer tee, wide-cuffed chino trousers, packable puffer vest, and reversible ripstop bucket hat rounds off the apparel elements.

The Tierra Whack x Vans collection is set to drop on December 3rd at Vans, Foot Locker, Simons, Off The Hook, PacSun, ASOS, and Nordstrom.
