Yara Shadidi is a leading voice for her generation, bringing awareness and using her platform to push for change in both the social and political atmosphere. Shahidi’s work doesn’t stop there either. The 21 year-old has also managed to study at Harvard while juggling her actress-producer lifestyle. You may be familiar with her role as Zoey Johnson on Black-ish and Grown-ish. Now, the trailblazing culture leader has managed to land collection with adidas!

Yara Shahidi gets together with adidas for a two-part collaborative collection that taps into the essence of ReCreation and the spirit of youth culture, making Shadidi the perfect candidate to tackle such a fusion. The collection hones her Iranian and Black roots with adidas, infusing her culture with the brand’s classic silhouettes. She expresses, “I have always viewed clothing and footwear as a way to navigate the world and take up space.”
The first part of the collection will feature a sneaker and apparel inspired by her heritage as well as 1960s design elements. The $110 Superstar sneaker features a worn cream white leather on the upper complete with the suede three stripes and a mutli-textured heel tab in Hazy Yellow, Legacy Gold and green. Other notable details include the lace pendant and hidden message and “yar” (a shorter version of Shahidi’s name which means “friend”) on the insole.
The apparel consists of two track tops and a pair of track pants serving as updated versions of the Beckenbauer tracksuit and further acknowledgements of Shahidi’s Iranian background. The $140 solid color track top appears in the Legacy Gold colorway complete with accenting forest green stripes. The zip-up top also sports a graphic on the back, an ode to her Iranian heritage. The $170 printed satin track top matches the $180 satin track pants as they both appear in a tile-like print, nodding to Shahidi’s grandfather and details of a Persian rug. If you look closely at the print, you can seen the adidas Originals logo floating about. Lastly, these pieces wouldn’t be complete with the iconic signature adidas three-stripes.
For the campaign, they tapped creatives who embody the essence of this culturally empowering collection: artist Duckwrth and models Andrea Thomas and Dora Owusu.
The Yara Shahidi x adidas collection is scheduled to release on Thursday, May 13th at 10AM EST. You can shop it then on adidas.com and through the adidas CONFIRMED app.
