Famously Known for her modern Victorian fashion and Orb pearl choker, designer Vivienne Westwood will be dropping limited-edition sneaker “Gel Kayano 27 LTX” with Japanese sneaker company ASICS.
Founded in the 1970s, the underground luxury brand has been making noise in the fashion industry for 51 years. Westwood is London’s staple of England punk scene, styling rock band “The Sex Pistols” in the late 70s.

Dubbed as the mother of punk fashion, Westwood’s designs consist of Victorian-inspired style mixed with modern-day clothing. Westwood is also widely known for her “Portrait Collection” corsets designed with 18-century paintings worn by celebrities such as Bella Hadid, FKA Twigs, and Iggy Azalea.

The designer is continuing her legacy by dropping a contemporary art commercial for her collaborative shoe release with ASICS. The commercial shows models dancing in the Gel Kayano 27 LTX with Westwood’s outrageously colorful garments.
Complete with a rubber exterior, the original silhouette is revealed upon unzipping the sneaker. The Gel Kayona 27 LTX sneaker appears in three colorways purple, black, and orange stamped with her famous Orb label.
The sneaker design draws influence from Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood’s 1974 collection called “SEX”, which was also the name of her clothing boutique in London. The collection was seen as controversial at the time due its explicit pieces such as leather bondage and unconventional t-shirts.
While the collaboration dropped on March 20th, the Gel Kayano 27 LTX is still currently on the Vivienne Westwood website.
