Little Inez from Hairspray (2007) isn’t so little anymore…nor is she just known by Little Inez. Her name is Tayla Parx and she is a multi-talented threat in the music industry. After co-starring in Hairspray and our nostalgic fave shows like Victorious and True Jackson VP,  she retired from the acting scene. Parx is now a singer, songwriter, and all-around musician who has just landed a #1 Billboard hit with Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” single.

The iconic “Thank U, Next” video was released over the weekend and caused a stir of buzz and memes which caused the video to ultimately break the Internet. This was also another big break for Tayla Parx as co-writer, but this is not her first #1 single. She has also been the co-writer for Normani and Khalid‘s “Love Lies” and Janelle Monae‘s “I Like That”. Parx has also worked with other huge stars such as Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, The Internet, and Jennifer Lopez

Though she is known for writing countless bops for other artists, Tayla Parx also is making a name for herself through her own music. She has a mixtape out called, Tayla Made which released in 2017. She is currently in the studio working on her follow-up album, We Need to Talk, with two singles out at the moment. In her upcoming album, she goes through her experiences with relationships and love which is illustrated through a blending of different musical genres

Tayla Parx is definitely an artist you need to know about and look out for. I definitely smell Grammy’s in her future. Her animated and quirky personality is quite hard to miss as it is shown through her music and overall vibrantly, gender-defying style. With each hit song, she is breaking boundaries in a male dominated industry and redefining the lines of gender and genre.
