Nicole McLaughlin Becomes Arc’teryx’s First Ever Design Ambassador

New York-based designer Nicole Mclaughlin will be partnering with outdoor and sporting good company Arc’teryx as their first ever design ambassador.

In an Instagram post, Arc’teryx expressed their excitement and appreciation of having Mclaughlin on the team: “We’re excited to welcome Nicole as our first ever design ambassador.” The brand also stated, “Nicole McLaughlin has been a leader in the upcycling space since 2018. Fuelled by curiosity and outrage at waste, Nicole’s genius is for hacking the potential of all things, even those things that seem spent. For all its playful humour, her work – which extends to workshops and a developing non-profit – is driven by a desire to keep deadstock and overstock out of landfill, and put it in the hands of people who can translate and transform it.”

Nicole Mclaughlin is best known for her unusually creative and witty upcycled designs such as tennis ball slippers and gym bag bras. The designer stated that her passion turned into a career in 2018. Since then, her playful creations have taken social media by storm going viral on numerous occasions.

This partnership with Arc’teryx isn’t McLaughlin’s first run-in with a major brand. In fact, she has also worked with Reebok where she created a sustainable collection in 2019 with garments like 90s inspired tracksuits and bags made of the brand’s sneaker material.

Through their partnership, Nicole McLaughlin will help Arc’teryx continue to explore solutions in sustainability through upcycling and other methods. Collaborative products are also in the works. They already have two designs, a cruiser cart and mini tent made from Arc’teryx products, which will be auctioned at a cause selected by McLaughlin.
